In my view, the Clinton Administration was itself far too left.  However, Clinton, himself, was committed to Centrism, a "New Democrat. at least as a strategy."  On the other hand, he was willing to let his wife impose the "dead hand" of socialism on the medical sector of the economy.  Were the Clintonistas "centrist" because of their own tendencies or because of the perceived right/center political climate?
