Even if "man made" global warming were a proven scientific theory, which it isn't, there is no rational reason to proceed with Cap and Trade unless it could be done on a global basis.  Even then, it would have to be proven that Cap and Trade would make a significant difference before one proceeded upon wholesale trashing of the world economy,  sowing misery and death, by choking off energy usage.

Why then are environmentalists so eager to proceed on a National or even a local level which has ABSOLUTELY no practical effect?  Their eagerness can only be explained by malevolent hatred of humanity, hatred of freedom, or financial conspiracy.

This is true, but "Cap and Trade" will also reduce the amount of energy available PER PERSON to society as a whole.  Thus, as the population continues to grow, the least powerful segments of society will have less PER PERSON. . .  much less.  The more powerful segments of society will use their power to maintain their standard of living at the expense of the least powerful, THE POOR and DISADVANTAGED.

A free economy serves all ONLY in a situation a growth.  Cap and Trade will turn the economy into a fixed sum game where one can only benefit at the expense of another.
