This should have been obvious to me as HVAC engineer!

In a greenhouse (or high ceiling buildings like a Church), hot air rises and is trapped at the top. As the heating continues, from whatever source (sun or radiators), a temperature inversion occurs: the hottest air is at the top and only gradually does the heat move to floor level (people level) as the heat builds-up.

This a well known frustration of heating high ceiling rooms! One must heat the unoccupied HIGH areas before heat can flow to the floor, people populated area! To get around this, ceiling fans or blower/duct systems can be used to blow the hotter air more quickly from high areas where it collects to floor level areas where it is needed for "people comfort."
