Too often opponents of "Cap and Trade" harp on the fact it will raise prices of everything because energy is a factor in EVERYTHING.
This is true, but "Cap and Trade" will also reduce the amount of energy available PER PERSON to society as a whole. Thus, as the population continues to grow, the least powerful segments of society will have less PER PERSON. . . much less. The more powerful segments of society will use their power to maintain their standard of living at the expense of the least powerful, THE POOR and DISADVANTAGED.
A free economy serves all ONLY in a situation a growth. Cap and Trade will turn the economy into a fixed sum game where one can only benefit at the expense of another.
At the margins, Cap and Trade will kill people. . . fortunately, it appears that we will have a Nationalized Health System which will determine exactly which people are to die early in the new scarcity economy.
