Even respected conservative Republican economists are arguing for a very large stimulus. I don't think Obama is to blame for the stupidity of House Democrats....they are, after all, a separate branch of government and can propose anything they wish. Fortunately, Obama make it clear that he would work with Republicans to strip out the most objectionable items in the stimulus legislation.

However, having said that, I think Rush Limbaugh has a point. Perhaps the Democrats should pass whatever legislation they want. Then, if it works, they can take full credit while simultaneously discrediting all the naysayers and doom merchants who are disparaging the overall package. On the other hand, if it fails to make any significant difference --- then voters can make the appropriate judgments.

One final point -- regarding your use of the loaded term "fear mongering". Let us remember that it was a Republican appointed Treasury Secretary that predicted catastrophe if the bank bailout was not passed. Let us also remember that it has been conservative Republican economists who have expressed support for a massive stimulus and they have warned that doing too little would be worse than doing too much.

As I wrote previously, no matter what Obama does or does not do --- Lloyd will find something to whine and moan about. So there is no point in giving anything he says any credence at this point.

Frankly, I didn't think Obama would be this bad. His "fear mongering" to elicit panic support for a "stimulus" which is really just a
massive, ill-considered expansion of government is shameful. I imagined he would come-up with a credible "stimulus" program with covert permanent
increases in welfare statism.

Strange how the Dems claimed Bush was fear mongering if he discussed the PROVEN dangers of international
terrorism, but "fear monger" regarding the economy in an incredibly simple-minded way.
