A used book store based search specialist in our network might quote $13.00 to $15.00 for a book they had priced on the shelf at $10.00. This mark-up covers their extra labor in searching, quoting, and shipping. We would then add our commission to cover our time. The final quote to you might be $17.00 to $20.00 or so depending upon the amount of effort involved.
A catalog or store scout with no inventory of his or her own might quote a little higher depending on how much time he took in his search.
An on-line computer matching specialist, also working with no inventory of his or her own, but rather from various on-line inventories, would also tend to be on the higher side.
The bottom line is this: Search services are for hard to find books. To get the best price on a used copy of a common book, stroll into your local or on-line used bookstore first. Contact us after you have determined that the book in the condition or edition you want is hard-to-find or rare.
